Editorial Policy
Free Clinic Directory publishes directory information and educational content to help people locate and understand affordable healthcare options.
Priorities
Content should help visitors find care, understand provider and payment types, prepare for visits, ask useful questions, locate reliable assistance, and correct outdated information. General wellness content is secondary.
Sources
Prefer official clinic websites and direct confirmation; federal, state, county, tribal, and municipal sources; official program sources; established nonprofits; recognized medical organizations; and peer-reviewed research when appropriate.
Do not treat unsourced blogs, scraped directories, advertisements, or AI-generated citations as authoritative.
Medical Review
Content involving symptoms, medications, screenings, vaccinations, pregnancy risks, treatments, or disease-specific guidance should receive appropriate editorial and, when necessary, qualified medical review.
Dates and Accuracy
Show publication and reviewed dates. Review time-sensitive content more frequently. Avoid guarantees and explain when rules vary by clinic, program, income, family size, location, or individual circumstances.
Listings and Advertising
Clinic claims must reflect available sources and verification labels. A claimed listing is not automatically independently verified. Advertising does not determine inclusion, verification, corrections, or editorial conclusions.
AI Assistance
Automation may assist drafting or organization, but a person should review published material. Clinic facts, program rules, and medical claims should not be published solely because an automated system generated them.
